Idéias Íntimas X

— Álvares de Azevedo

Meu pobre leito! eu amo?te contudo!
Aqui levei sonhando noite belas
As longas horas olvidei libando
Ardentes gotas de licor doirado,
Esqueci?as no fumo, na leitura
Das páginas lascivas do romance. .

Meu leito juvenil, da minha vida
És a página d'oiro. Em teu asilo
Eu sonho?me poeta, e sou ditoso,
E a mente errante devaneia em mundos
Que esmalta a fantasia! Oh! quantas vezes
Do levante no sol entre odaliscas
Momentos não passei que valem vidas!
Quanta música ouvi que me encantava!
Quantas virgens amei! que Margaridas,
Que Elviras saudosas e Clarissas
Mais trêmulo que Faust eu não beijava,
Mais feliz que Don Juan e Lovelace
Não apertei ao peito desmaiando!

Ó meus sonhos de amor e mocidade,
Por que ser tão formosos, se devíeis
Me abandonar tão cedo... e eu acordava
Arquejando a beijar meu travesseiro?
