Velkommen, Aand Fra Himmelen

— Nicolaj Frederik Severin Grundtvig

Velkommen, Aand fra Himmelen,
Med dine Tunger røde,
Paa Jorden skal nu Hjerterne
Af Himmel-Luer gløde,
Og hvad i Dybet skjult der laae,
Foroven og forneden,
Paa Folke-Tunger skal opstaae,
I Christus-Menigheden!

Alt i den Stores Billede
Var skabt Græshoppe-Kuldet,
Med hver en Blomst henvisnende
Sank dybere i Muldet,
Men med et Pust henveirer Du,
Guds Aand! hvad Ordet dækker,
Hvert Sandsagn Du til Dødens Gru,
Lyslevende opvækker!

At Guders Gud og Mennesket
Kan have Liv tilfælles,
Trods Sønnens Kiødspaatagelse,
Blandt mørke Taler tælles;
Men med et Pust, Man gløder ved,
Du Gaaden aabenbarer,
Og af Gud-Faders Kiærlighed
Den mesterlig forklarer!

His idea was to create an educational system that would give dignity to each person who attended. He wanted to awaken in each person a pride in Danish...
